BIO

Stir together the sounds of R&B, vulnerable singer-songwriter, and Retro Soul, and you've got Bay-Area based Tom Quell. His warm style has been likened to classic singers like Sam Cooke and Paul McCartney—and his voice could very well be an item in the dairy aisle, time and again being described as creamy, buttery, and smooth. Tom's sound is steeped in vintage, old-soul influences as well as a modern flair that speaks uniquely for itself.

Born and raised near Seattle, WA, Tom's musical journey began as an elementary-age kid in his bedroom: listening to *NSYNC and Backstreet Boys on his walkman and memorizing every little nuance in their voices.  As his taste began to develop toward 70s soul music over the years, he picked up piano and guitar and started singing in choirs, eventually leading to a spot in a collegiate a cappella group at UC Berkeley. Vocal harmony has always been at the forefront of Tom's style, and it continues to serve as the bedrock for his songwriting and arrangements.

Tom's first full-length album, "Marrow" (2019), was received warmly in the Bay Area and featured many of community's finest musicians. He is currently working on his second studio album in Oakland, California for his solo project, along with an album for upcoming Soul/Funk band The Heeters—which features members of The California Honeydrops. Tom has collaborated with artists ranging from La Russell to Afroman.
