ALBUM FAN DRIVE

$5,851 Pledged of $20,000 goal

(If PayPal isn't your thing, you can also contribute via Venmo @tomquellmusic)

Pay for almost one of the burritos that I buy for the musicians on the day of a recording session!
Pay for one-quarter of what I Venmo the percussionist for laying down a few takes of overdubs!
Pay me even more than I recently got paid for playing a show at Ivy Room!
Pay for almost a full tank of gas in the big ass van we borrow from our friends for tour!
Pay for almost one song to be mixed!
(Not including paying for the recording time)
Pay for me to print 1,000 custom Tom Quell t-shirts that I can sell as merch online and at shows!
Pay for a full 12-hour day of recording (not including paying the musicians) at a professional studio!
Pay for the cost of printing 1,000 copies of physical vinyl which would be a dream come true!
If you give me $5,000, I will write you a song, play a show for you anywhere in the U.S., and write you a letter detailing how much and why I appreciate you.
If you give me $10,000, I'll do pretty much whatever you want!

I've been working on this album for the past two years.

According to my calculations, I have spent exactly $13,516 on it.

This includes...

- Paying for studio time, mixing & mastering

- Paying musicians for recording

- Paying for music videos & live performance videos

- Paying for photos & album art

- Providing food for the crew on studio days & rehearsals

- And lots of other stuff but this is already too many bullet points

And guess what? I'M NOT EVEN DONE WITH IT YET!!! There is still plenty to do to get this record over the finish line (more mixing and mastering, album art & promo videos, a few more overdubs and edits, etc.) In other words, there are still lots of expenses on the horizon. All of this stuff will probably add another few thousand dollars.

But wait, there's more! Once I finish the album, I want to release it in such a way that it doesn't just fall into the ether where only some of my friends ever hear it and/or end up buried under the sands of time and apathy and could-have-beens. That's what happened with my first album (Marrow, 2019) and then I felt really disappointed in myself and disillusioned with my relationship to music. This time, I vow to honor the effort I've put into making the record.

And there's really no limit to what that will look like in terms of spending money. For example:

- Running advertisement campaigns to increase the album's reach

- Making merch to support the record release (including vinyl pressing which is crazy expensive)

- PR fees/press publications

- Touring the album and the associated costs

So you see, the sky's the limit. I'm asking for $20,000 to help me finish the album, recoup some of my costs over the past couple years, and put the rest toward making sure it is heard by as many people as possible. Please consider contributing — every dollar helps!

THANK YOU VERY MUCH I LOVE YOU
